IU is today one of the most well-known and loved artists in South Korea, but it was not easy for her to get there.
When she was young, she and her family experienced extreme poverty, which led her to live with her grandmother away from her parents. But despite her situation, she did not give up her goal of entering the entertainment world. 

Unfortunately, she did not have much support, but despite everything, she persevered to achieve her dream. She eventually entered the music industry. However, her beginnings were difficult because before joining an agency, she failed about 20 auditions, then had to change agencies several times and was even scammed by one of them.
It was only in 2008 that she debuted as a singer; two years later, one of her songs, "Nagging", went viral in South Korea, and that is how she entered KPOP history, earning her the nickname "the nation's little sister".

But what she wanted above all was to become an actress; she has had roles in several K-dramas and films, the most well-known being: Moon Lovers, Hotel del Luna, and Scarlet Heart. 
The release of the film "Dream", where she plays the role of a journalist alongside Park Seo Joon, is eagerly awaited.

IU's love life

Regarding her love life, IU is very discreet, even though in the past there have been many rumors about her relationships. The only  true relationship known to date is with "Jang Ki-Ha", with whom she was in a relationship for several years, but unfortunately their respective agencies announced the end of their relationship in 2017. 

Today IU has declared that she wants to focus on her career and prefers to remain single.
