The K-pop group Mamamoo is a girl band composed of four members: Solar, Hwasa, Moon Byul, and Wheein, formed by the label Rainbowbridge World (RBW) and their fandom is called "MooMoo". They made their debut on June 18, 2014 with the song "Mr. Ambiguous", but before their debut they had already released three singles "Don't Be Happy", "Peppermint Chocolate", and "Heeheehaheho", in collaboration with other artists.
Unfortunately, few people in the K-pop industry believed in their success, for several reasons, but the main reason was their appearance because compared to other girl bands they are short, and it was also mentioned that the appearance of one of the members, Hwasa, could pose a problem.
However, the group managed to stand out and pave their way to success and fame. It was notably two of their songs that propelled them to the forefront and made them known internationally, the titles in question are "Egostic" and "Starry Night" which were released in 2018.
After that, all their musical projects were a big success, the group's image also gradually changed, they managed to find their style and integrate it into their music.
But alongside the group, the members also carried out solo projects, first there was Solar with her song "Spit It Out", then Hwasa with "Maria" which was very successful, Moon Byul with "Eclipse" and Wheein with "Watercolor".
They did not stop there, as they continued their solo projects, the most recent are:Solar with her first mini-album "FACE", Wheein with "Whee" and Moon Byul with "6equence".
Even though the members are very active in their solo projects, this is not the case for the group projects, because unfortunately since their mini-album titled "WAW" released in 2021 they have not released any other albums. Solar even stated in a recent interview that the group had nothing planned for this year 2022, at least for now.
SOLAR
Solar (Kim Yong Seon), of Korean nationality, is the oldest in the group but also the leader. She was born on February 21, 1991, she is now 31 years old. She is also the main vocalist due to her voice which is very powerful. As seen earlier, in addition to being part of the K-pop group Mamamoo, she is also a solo artist and has carried out several musical projects in collaboration with other artists. Moreover, she has a YouTube channel where she regularly posts entertaining content such as videos with her sister or the other members of Mamamoo as well as vlogs showing her daily life.
MOON BYUL
Moon Byul (Moon Byeol Yi), of Korean nationality, was born on December 22, 1992, she is 29 years old. She is the main rapper of the group, she is also a composer and lyricist because she contributed a lot to the rap parts of the group's songs. She is also the main dancer, and has created several choreographies for the group.
WHEEIN
Wheein (Jeong Hwi In), is Korean, she was born on April 17, 1995, she is 27 years old. She is a chorist, composer, singer and lyricist, she is also the face of the group. She is known for her artistic talents, in fact, she designed the cover of her mini-album. She is very close to Hwasa because they grew up in the same neighborhood and have known each other since middle school.
HWASA
Hwasa (An Hye Jin), aged 26 years, born on July 23, 1995, is the youngest in the group. She is a singer and rapper and plays the piano, she can also be called a lyricist because she participated in the writing of several songs in the group. She is considered very charismatic and has a lot of success with international fans. However, she is heavily criticized in South Korea due to her appearance, she was also discriminated against because of this when she started her singing career. During her first auditions, a producer rejected her because he found her "too fat and not pretty". It was after that that she decided to impose her own beauty standards and embrace who she is.
