The official Ateez Lightstick was announced on their social media accounts on January 16, 2020. It was available for pre-order starting January 22, 2020, and was finally put on sale at the beginning of next month, February 3, 2020. The Lightstick was sold at the venue of two concerts in Seoul held at the Olympic Hall on February 8 and 9, 2020, as part of the group's second world tour titled The Fellowship: Map The Treasure. The Ateez Lightstick was originally offered at the price of 33,000 KRW. Initially, it sold out in South Korean stores within just 2 hours and in all other stores within 10 hours. The item was manufactured in China by a company called Compact.D, which was also responsible for merchandise of other KPop artists. It is an official collectible item from KQ Entertainment.

The Ateez Lightstick was created from a fan's design that won the open contest held in July 2019. The contest lasted 16 days between July 8 and July 22, 2019. The item has a round globe-shaped head with a visible outline of the continents and a compass needle inside that looks like an hourglass. On the half-arch, you will see the phrase "8 MAKES 1 TEAM" and the start date of Ateez in the form of geographic coordinates 18°10'24" (October 24, 2018). On a black handle, you will find a keyhole-shaped button and the group's logo. There is a compass at the bottom of the handle. The lightstick comes in a beautiful black box that looks like a treasure chest. On the box, you will find the names of all the members and some product information. A wrist strap as well as a user manual are included in the packaging.

The official name of the Ateez Lightstick is LIGHTINY, which is a combination of two words: "Light" and "Destiny".

The item can operate in five different modes, including "On", "Blink", "Flicker" and two special modes "Red Aurora" and "Green Aurora". It requires 3 AAA alkaline batteries to operate. They are not included in the package. The lightstick can be wirelessly controlled via the central control mode on site during concerts. This allows for amazing light effects based on the songs currently being performed by Ateez. The product weighs about 180 g and is made of PC, ABS, and rubber. Its dimensions are 100 x 113 x 256 mm.

KQ Entertainment released the Ateez Lightstick before the group's second world tour The Fellowship: Map The Treasure. The members performed 18 concerts in Asia (Seoul and Japan), Europe (Madrid, Paris, London, Amsterdam, Berlin, Warsaw, and Moscow), and North America (Newark, Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas, and Los Angeles). The tour will conclude at the Los Angeles Forum on April 26, 2020. Besides the Lightstick, Ateez prepared a number of other collectibles for their fans planning to attend the events. The list of concert merchandise in Seoul includes items such as the official suede reflection slogan, a set of 10 mini posters (210 x 297 mm), a set of 8 photos each featuring a member (102 x 152 mm), 8 different types of metal keychains, a metal pin with three different charms, a cardholder and a lanyard in one set, a passport holder, a black shopping bag, a square bandana (540 x 540 mm), a gray ball cap, and a black cotton hoodie.

This is not the first time Ateez released a Lightstick. In January 2019, the group came back with Treasure Ep. 2: Zero To One. A special showcase was organized for the album release. The event took place at the YES24 Live Hall in Seoul on January 16, 2019. The group prepared a selection of 3 items for fans who attended the showcase. Among the items, including a set of 9 posters and a keychain, there was a simple acrylic Ateez Lightstick much simpler than this one, with a round head bearing the group's logo on a compass and a small orange compass on the handle.
