EXO's official Lightstick version 3.0 was revealed on June 13, 2019 ahead of the group's fifth tour titled EXO Planet #5 - EXplOration . It was available for pre-order for a short time and was finally released on June 21, 2019. For the first time, the third version of EXO's Lightstick can work with a special battery pack that can be purchased separately. This is of course the official collectible of SM Entertainment and it was made in South Korea .
The design is very similar to previous versions. It has a hexagonal head with the EXO logo and a white handle with a power button. This time, however, the lines of the logo are protruding, making the word "EXO" more visible and easier to distinguish. Unlike the previous version, this one does not come with an additional silver battery cover that you can use instead of the usual white cover. On the back of the Version 3.0 EXO Lightstick , you will find a small silicone cap (you will find an extra cap in the package) that you can remove to decorate your item with special accessories which were released by SM Entertainment on February 17, 2020. You will be able to get four different accessories including a small EXO logo, two logos from the band's seventh studio album titled Obsession, and finally two blue planet logos. On the handle, you will find a rubber wrist strap already attached with a small button representing the logo of the KPop group. It should be noted that the two previous versions were equipped with a fabric wrist strap.
The Lightstick is equipped with an address LED that allows it to produce various light effects and animations . The product can shine in white color and can work in four different modes, including lighting, fast flashing, animation and dimming. It needs 3 AAA alkaline batteries to operate, but you can replace the battery case with a special battery pack which is rechargeable. It's a very practical solution: you don't have to buy new batteries and replace them every time you want to use the Lightstick EXO.
The version 3.0 battery pack looks like the lower part of the handle. It is equipped with a 5-pin USB connector so you can connect it to a power source via a normal USB cable. It is a Li-ion type battery with a capacity of 2600 mAh. The item comes with a cover emblazoned with EXO's logo and weighs approximately 85g. The dimensions of the product are 33.6 x 32.3 x 116 mm. It comes with a user manual. The official model number is SME-EXO-BA03. It was listed as part of the official merchandise prepared for the EXPlOration concerts in Seoul and its price is 99.90€ on Boutique KPOP .
You can connect version 3.0 to your smartphone via Bluetooth. This will allow you to associate it with your seat number at the chosen EXO concert so that you can manipulate it via a central control mode. Thus, special light effects can be obtained during the performances. To pair the EXO Lightstick (version 3.0) with a particular seat, you need to download and install an app called Wyth. You can download it from Google Play or App Store, depending on the device you are using. Next, you need to sign in with your SMTOWN account (you can create a new one in the Wyth app if you don't have it). Then all you have to do is choose a particular gig from a list and associate your Lightstick with your seat (and level, zone and row if necessary). Press and hold the Lightstick power button for 5 seconds. You will notice that it lights up blue. There it's done.
The third version of EXO's official Lightstick measures 101.1 x 57.5 x 276mm and weighs around 180g. It comes in a white cardboard box which is not as attractive as the two previous, sturdier and sleeker packaging. This is one of two glow sticks (the other belongs to Super Junior) that does not come in a round tube box.
Besides the item in the package, you will also find a sheet of 2 stickers (a logo and a name) and a user manual. It should be mentioned that no warranty card is included. If you pre-ordered your Lightstick EXO , you were entitled to receive a sticker sheet and a special photo card. The stickers included eight stickers featuring a single member, two EXO logos, two stickers featuring the group name, and eight stickers featuring the names of all members, including Suho, Chanyeol, DO, Sehun, Kai, Baekhyun, Chen, and Xiumin. The photo card was added randomly from the 8 versions whose photos match those on the sticker sheet. Lay was busy with his solo pursuits, so he's not available here as an option. And of course, he did not participate in the EXO Planet #5 - EXplOration tour for which the version 3.0 of the lightstick was prepared.
On September 30, 2019, a special cover for the Lightstick was released. It was made in China and distributed by Sun Entertainment Co., Ltd. The pouch can hold the third version of the Lightstick EXO (it was not designed for previous versions) and a battery if you have one. Special bands keep it in place and sturdy material can easily absorb impacts. It opens and closes with a zipper and has a comfortable handle. The dimensions of the item are 130 x 310 x 80 mm and it is made of PU, EVA and polyester. It also comes with an adjustable shoulder strap with a size of 1000 x 30 mm. In the package you will also find a key ring (18 x 30 mm) with the inscription "We Are One", three sheets of holographic stickers (100 x 135 mm) and a group photo card (86 x 54 mm). The weight of the lightweight pouch is 260g.
